    One cleaned, parboiled possum
Salt, black pepper, onion powder, and sage
    5 tart pie apples
    One can chicken broth
    4-6 sweet potatoes, peeled

Pat possum dry with paper towels. Rub seasonings into the flesh and into the cavity. Slice one of the apples into wedges and place inside the cavity. Place the possum in a roaster with a lid and pour the chicken broth over the meat. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Remove possum from oven and drain off liquid. Place the taters and the remaining apples around the possum and bake, covered, for another hour. For the last fifteen minutes of cooking, remove the lid so the possum can brown.

    What a clusterfuck:

NEWS ADVISORY: TEPCO can't check smoke at Fukushima plant as radiation is too high (11:16)

NEWS ADVISORY: TEPCO unable to confirm temperature at No.3 reactor's spent fuel pool (11:02)

NEWS ADVISORY: Pool stores 514 spent fuel rods at Fukushima No.3 reactor: TEPCO (11:00)

NEWS ADVISORY: Smoke may be coming from No. 3 reactor's fuel pool: TEPCO (10:53)

I wish everyone the best. Those pools of spent fuel rods contain more radioactive elements than the cores of the reactor.

I'm shocked that Olbermann's show was cancelled by MSNBC so suddenly and without any kind of warning or wind down. My immediate reaction is to wonder if there's another shoe that might drop or any evidence of some serious wrongdoing by Olbermann that's about to surface. It's really surprising considering that Countdown is MSNBC's top rated prime time show, based on yesterday's ratings:

    CABLE NEWS RACE
    THURS. JAN. 20, 2011

    FOXNEWS O'REILLY 2,918,000
    FOXNEWS HANNITY 2,079,000
    FOXNEWS BAIER 1,940,000
    FOXNEWS SHEP 1,786,000
    FOXNEWS BECK 1,780,000
    FOXNEWS GRETA 1,460,000
    MSNBC OLBERMANN 1,106,000
    CNN PIERS 1,025,000
    MSNBC MADDOW 976,000
    MSNBC O'DONNELL 855,000
    MSNBC SCHULTZ 760,000
    CNN COOPER 740,000
    MSNBC HARDBALL 700,000

I'm sure we'll be hearing all about what happened in the coming days. It's worth noting that the Comcast-NBC merger was approved yesterday, so that might be a lead worth following up on.

Can't wait to see “some wild wag of an oculist set them there to fatten his practice in the borough of Queens, and then sank down himself into eternal blindness or forgot them and moved away." adapted for the big screen in 3D! My only gripe is that Michael Bay isn't directing it.
